AI Summary Actions for Automations, Conversation Message Triggers, & Transcript Access

Hi Vendasta Product Team,
I’m currently implementing automation workflows around Conversations AI / AI Receptionist, and I’ve encountered a limitation that prevents building real-time lead follow-up automations.
To fully integrate AI conversations into Automations and Zapier workflows, the following features would be extremely valuable:
Requested Automation Triggers
• New conversation message created
• Customer reply detected (filterable by sender type: contact vs AI/system)
• Conversation closed / inactive
Requested Data Access
• Full conversation transcript
• Individual message content
• Conversation ID
• Sender type (contact / AI / agent)
• Channel (SMS, chat, email)
• Timestamp
Requested Actions
• Retrieve conversation transcript in automations
• Generate AI summary for any conversation (SMS, chat, email)
• Send conversation data via webhook/Zapier
Highly Valuable Addition
• Conversation-level delay / aggregation tools (e.g., “wait until conversation inactive for X minutes”).
This would allow automations to process a complete conversation instead of firing once per message.
Example Workflow
Lead submits form
→ AI Receptionist starts conversation
→ Customer replies via SMS/chat
→ Automation detects reply
→ Wait until conversation pauses
→ AI generates summary
→ Sales team receives alert with lead details and recommended follow-up
Why This Matters
These capabilities would enable agencies and businesses to:
• Receive real-time alerts for high-intent leads
• Automatically summarize customer conversations
• Prioritize leads based on conversation context
• Sync conversation insights into CRM workflows
• Build more intelligent automation around AI receptionist interactions
Right now, conversation activity is difficult to incorporate into automation workflows, which limits the full potential of Conversations AI.
Adding these triggers and actions would significantly improve automation capabilities, sales responsiveness, and the overall value of Vendasta’s AI conversation tools.
