Our providers tell us they struggle to build automations. We know AI-assisted building is coming, but the triggers and actions themselves are complicated and take a lot of clicks for common tasks.
  1. Quick "field changed" trigger
Most of the time providers just want to start an automation when a specific field changes. Today that means choosing Contact Modified, picking the field, adding a condition, working past options they'd never change, using a dropdown that behaves differently from the others (you can't type to search in it), and clicking again to choose the field. The AI response mode placeholder is also unclear. A single trigger like "[Object] field modified", where you search for the field and set the condition, would cover most cases.
  1. More built-in triggers that match the product
Examples:
  • Chat receptionist starts a conversation
  • Customer asks to speak to a human
  • Facebook DM received
  • Instagram DM received
Today searching "social" only returns "social comment is received".
  1. Simpler actions, including "wait until"
Actions are hard to set up and put together. A really useful one would be to pause the workflow until an event happens, then continue. For example, keep a contact in a campaign until their lifecycle stage changes, then move on to the next step. Today "Delay until event" has options that aren't clear and still asks for a set amount of time. We'd like the workflow to wait with no fixed time and only continue when the condition is met.
