Businesses can invite their own teammates to Business App
SMB users can now invite their teammates straight from Business App, and new accounts and business profiles can be saved without filling in every address and category field.
Faster team onboarding and lighter setup forms
- Easy invites to Business App:SMB users can invite several teammates at once, set each person's Business App permissions, and send the onboarding email in one step. It's the same invite panel partners already use in Partner Center.
- Fewer required fields. On the Easy Account Create form and the business profile form, most address fields and the primary category are now recommended instead of required. Only business name, market and country are still required. When you save with recommended fields empty, a prompt shows what's missing and why it helps, without blocking you.
Why it matters
Previously, when a business wanted to add a teammate to Business App, they had to ask their partner to do it, delaying the business and creating admin work for the partner. Now, businesses can add teammates themselves, saving everyone time.
Additionally, when adding a user the required fields further slowed things down, resulting in placeholder data being typed in to be able to save. This then caused problems in listings, reports and AI features. Now businesses can bring their team in themselves the moment they're ready, and accounts get created with real information or none at all, so it's clear what still needs filling in.
Who it's for
- Partners onboarding new SMB clients who want less back-and-forth
- SMBs with staff who need their own Business App login
- Partners creating accounts quickly before all business details are available
How to get started
Invite teammates from Business App
- Go to Business App's homepage and select "Invite team member" near the top right, OR Business App > Administration > User Management > Invite User
- Add one or more people by email.
- Optionally, adjust each person's permissions or add a custom greeting.
- Select "Invite." Each person is created as a user and gets the onboarding email right away.
Create an account or edit a profile with fewer required fields
- Fill in business name, market and country, plus any other details you have.
- Save. If recommended fields are empty, a prompt lists them.
- Select "Return to editing" to jump to the first empty field, or continue without them.
FAQs
Q: Is inviting in Business App different from in Partner Center?
A: It works the same way, except you add people by email rather than searching CRM contacts.
Q: Do most people need to change the default permissions?
A: Usually not. Most invites go out with the default settings.
Q: Can I leave the address and category blank forever?
A: You can, but some features (such as listings and local search tools) work best with them filled in. On the business profile, once a recommended field is filled in and saved, it becomes required so those features keep working. Website stays optional.
