Instant Email Responses, Automatically
AI Chat Receptionists can now respond automatically to inbound emails, just like it already does for other channels. Once turned on, customers receive a helpful first reply within minutes—any time of day.
The full conversation is logged in Conversations, keeping email interactions visible alongside other channels.
Why this Matters
Email remains one of the most common ways customers reach out—but when teams are busy or offline, first responses can be delayed. Previously, while Conversations AI supported sending and receiving emails, the AI Chat Receptionist couldn’t automatically reply to inbound emails. Now, email joins the other channels* that the AI Receptionist can automatically reply to.

AI Chat Receptionist can automatically respond to customer communication sent via the following channels:
  • Web Chat
  • SMS (US & Canada)
  • WhatsApp
  • Facebook Business Messages
  • Instagram Business Messages
  • Email (NEW!!)
Note: Only the AI Chat Receptionist supports email auto-responses at this time (custom AI employees are not yet supported).
How to Get Started
Available in Business App now.
  • Go to Business App AI > AI Workforce > AI Chat Receptionist > Configure
  • Enable the Email channel.
  • Customize Email Address in
    Settings (link directly under the Email channel) > Advanced Email Settings
How to Test (optional)
  • Copy the forwarding address provided in Email settings.
  • Using your email account, send an email to this address to test. You’ll get an automatic response within a minute to your email.
  • View this conversation logged in Conversations.

Q: How do I customize how the AI responds on Email?
A: You can add a custom prompt to the Role / Profile area, that says something like “When responding via email, make sure you…” and the AI employee will follow those instructions.
