Organize CRM records your way with custom field layouts
Group, reorder, and hide the fields on any CRM record with Field Layouts so that the information your team uses most shows up first, on every contact, company, opportunity, and custom object.

Every CRM object, laid out the way you work
Field layouts let you control how the fields on a CRM record are grouped and ordered. Create named sections, decide which fields go in each one, and set the order sections appear in.
Field groups:
Create, name, and reorder sections that match how your business (and your clients' businesses) workConsistent formatting:
The layout you build applies everywhere that record shows up: the form for creating a record, the form for editing one, and the profile panel on the record itself. Return to default:
discard your changes and return to the standard layout with one click.Drag and drop:
Edit fast with drag and drop. Move fields between groups or reorder them within a group.Hidden fields:
Park fields you don't want on the record, with their data kept intact*Tip! layouts can be distributed through account templates. Configure it once and standardize how the CRM looks across every account at once.*
Why it matters
Before this release, every CRM object showed its fields in one fixed order, regardless of which fields actually mattered for that business. A car dealership using custom "Vehicle" and "Test Drive" objects saw the same generic layout as a dental office. Useful fields were buried below dozens of ones nobody touched that day.
Now, each object (contacts, companies, opportunities, and every custom object) gets its own layout. Teams can put the fields they check constantly at the top, group related details like billing information or service history together, and hide rarely-used fields without deleting any data.
Who it's for
- Teams that need quick access to commonly-used fields
- Partners and businesses using custom CRM objects for a specific vertical (auto, medical, real estate, and similar)
- Partners applying account templates at scale, where a consistent field layout matters across many accounts
How to get started
- Go to Partner Center/ Business App > Administration > CRM Objects
- Choose the object to lay out: Contacts, Companies, Opportunities, or a custom object.
- Click "Organize layout."
- Drag fields between the Unassigned, Field groups, and Hidden fields panels, add and name new groups, and reorder as needed.
- Click "Done" to save.
Note: Every group needs a unique name and at least one visible field. An empty or unnamed group will block saving until it's fixed or removed.
FAQs
Q: Does hiding a field delete the information in it?
A: No. Hiding only removes the field from the record view. The field and its stored values are kept, and you can restore it from the Hidden fields panel at any time.
Q: Can contacts and companies have different layouts?
A: Yes. Contacts, companies, opportunities, and each custom object are laid out separately.
Q: Do I have to add every new field to a group?
A: No. New fields land in Unassigned and appear on records right away. Adding them to a group is optional.
Q: Can I undo a layout change?
A: There's no single-step undo. Drag fields back where you want them and click Done, or use Reset to standard to clear the whole layout for that object.
