Allow more customization around custom fields
complete
L
Luboš Čipera
Please expand the capabilities in Administration > Custom Fields across all entities (Company, Contact, Order, etc.) to give us greater control over data capture and layout. Specifically, we would like the ability to:
- Reorder Fields: Drag-and-drop or rank custom fields to prioritize critical inputs.
- Group Fields: Create visual sections/headers to organize related fields together.
- Hide Fields: Hiding certain fields that is not relevant to the business.
- Mark Fields as "Required": Enforce mandatory data collection globally at the entity level.
These improvements would ensure critical data is consistently gathered and significantly enhance the user experience by keeping forms organized and intuitive. Thank you!

Customizing field layouts are live in the CRM!
You can now control how fields are grouped and ordered on CRM records. Contacts, companies, opportunities, and every custom object get their own layout, and it applies everywhere it matters: the create form, the edit form, and the profile panel on the record.
What you get:
- Named field groups. Drag fields between them, reorder them, whatever order you set in the editor is the order on the record.
- Hidden fields! Park the ones you don't use. Nothing is deleted, the data stays and the field keeps working in imports and integrations.
- New fields land in Unassigned and show on records right away, sorted by recent update or alphabetically, your pick.
- Reset to standard any time if you want the default back. No data lost.

We haven't yet added the support for marking fields as required, which will be addressed in a separate post here: https://roadmap.vendasta.com/crm/p/allow-user-to-mark-fields-as-required

Ability to Organize Custom Fields in contact and opportunity records.
J

Currently when we create custom fields there is no way to organize or group them. This would be beneficial in both the contact record and also the opportunities. Being able to create a group and include different custom fields would solve this for a lot of my clients that depend on custom fields. It would also just be a much cleaner presentation.
Real Life Example: A client sells to different customers. Govt Sales require a different workflow with several dates that need to be recorded and tracked. Being able to group these and not just be random through the opportunities custom fields would not just be cleaner but also much easier to track the important data and adhere to the SOP.

Custom Fields - Group By Category/Card

Is there a way categorize/group custom fields in the partner center CRM as well as the business app CRM?
screenshot of an ideal example provided below
For instance, each 'Card' in the example screenshot groups together the custom fields associated in that group/table and is much easier to see/update the information at a glancePhoto Viewer

CRM Custom Fields sort Automatically

Randy Kassebaum
Currently, custom fields in Partner Center and Business App do not auto-sort alphabetically—they will appear in the order you created them or how you manually arrange them. There is no automatic sort-by-alphabet option available at this time. When you have a longer list of custom fields it would be way easier to find if it sorted alphabetically.

Customize field settings in CRM

It would be really great to be able to customize the fields included in a contact profile so that it's limited only to the fields that are relevant to a particular SMB. I have a client asking if I can hide the fields that aren't relevant to their home services business (linkedin URL, birthday, interests, etc.). With CRM customization being such a strong selling point (in terms of automated workflows), this functionality would only strengthen the case for the Vendasta CRM vs. other alternatives.

I just wanted to share that I also have clients asking about moving the custom fields. Clients are wanting to reorder the custom fields to put the important ones toward the top of the records. I'd also like the option to hide certain fields not in use. Lastly, can we please show the social media icons at the top of the record with the record name like most CRMs - that would take up less record space and allow the clients to see their custom fields on the left easier.

Being able to chose which custom fields are attached to different pipelines would be very beneficial for workflow and keep the custom fields a lot cleaner. Being able to customize the layout or grouping would be a great start as well

Re-Order Custom Fields

We like to utilize the custom fields for lots of different client data like License #, Business Owner Birthdate, Point of Contact Info and more. We have about 40-50 fields in total. We find that this works for us but could be significantly better if you were to add the capability of reordering the fields.

Hi Luboš Čipera, we’ll be exploring these improvements in Q1-Q2 2026 as part of our work on customizing field layouts in the CRM. This will include options such as grouping, reordering, and marking certain fields as required.

Second this. Also more field types for custom fields would be handy.
